TALLY WEiJL x CIRCLE UP TEXTILES

Stitching the Future Together

The CUT project (Circle Up Textiles) aims to research and develop guidelines and tools for implementing ecodesign principles in the textile industry. Led by the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU), the project brings together academic and industry partners.
TALLY WEiJL takes on the role of end user for the “Design Recommender Tool” and the accompanying design guidelines developed by the project team. We are testing this circular design tool in a real-life environment.
Our feedback flows directly into the tool’s further development, helping to tailor it to the specific needs of the fashion industry.
The TALLY WEiJL design team is actively involved in the project, allowing circular design principles to be integrated from the earliest stages of product development. These include factors such as material selection, durability, repairability, recyclability, and reusability.

Tally Weijl participates in the EU Horizon Europe project tExtended, led by the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland with 20 partners from 10 European countries, including textile waste, circular economy, recycling, and sustainability experts. The project aims to cut textile waste by 80% through industrial-urban symbiosis, developing advanced recovery, recycling, and digital tools for circular fashion. Running from December 2022 to 2026, tExtended will deliver a Blueprint for circular textile ecosystems, involving local communities and creating new business opportunities. As an end-user, Tally Weijl will design and produce garments from recycled materials, testing quality, performance, and compliance, and contribute to the Industrial Exploitation Group to shape the project’s business model. Funded by the EU Horizon Europe programme (Grant No. 101091575) and the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI).
