ORGANIC

Organic cotton comes from a farming system that sustains the health of soils, ecosystems, and people, by relying on ecological processes, biodiversity and cycles adapted to local conditions, and avoiding use of synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge, irradiation and genetic engineering. We rely on certifications such as Organic Content Standard (OCS) or Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS).

RECYCLED

Materials categorized as "RECYCLED" are processed through mechanical or chemical recycling. The source material may be pre-consumer or post-consumer waste that's beyond its original use, including returns from the distribution chain. We trust certifications like the Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) or Global Recycled Standard (GRS) to ensure the integrity of our recycled content.

Tally Weijl and Recover™ are partnering with the goal to include more recycled fibre in our garments to increase our efforts to move to a more circular business. Recover™ is a frontrunner in recycled cotton fibre and cotton fibre blends, with innovative technologies that have the capability to turn textile waste (industrial and used garments) into high-quality recycled fibers. These fibers can be used again to create new garments and help to close the loop on fashion.

MATERIALS AND PROCESSES

We thrive to source our materials from more sustainable origins through partnerships with renowned companies or certification schemes such as LenzingTM and FSC for Viscose, among others.

Cotton is a key material in TALLY WEiJL's products. We are a proud member of Better Cotton. Better Cotton is sourced via a system of mass balance and is not physically traceable to end products. Our goal is clear: by 2030, we aim for all our cotton to be 'more sustainable cotton.' This category includes Better Cotton, recycled cotton, organic cotton, and Fairtrade cotton, representing our dedication to environmental and social responsibility.

Tally Weijl and YKK are partnering with the goal to include more sustainable accessories in our garments. YKK is proud to introduce the new AcroPlating® finishing technology, an innovative technology that does not require the use of the hazardous substances, cyanogen and chromium. This new, more sustainable process also conserves water and electricity and reduces greenhouse gas emissions when compared to YKK’s conventional plating methods.

TESTING CONTROL

Making you happy is what matters the most to us and this means providing you with products that fully respect our quality requirements in terms of health and safety.
Therefore, all our suppliers are contractually required to deliver according to our strict quality and safety specifications book, where the Restricted Substance List (RSL) is included. RSL was developed to ensure compliance with the most stringent chemical regulations which are in place in the territories where our brand is represented.
TALLY WEiJL carries out many controls that guarantee the effectiveness of these principles, including physical and critical chemical substances tests. Every detected defect or flaw is removed immediately. Should non-compliance occur, we take immediate action to rectify the issue and ensure full adherence.
Moreover, we collaborate with external laboratories located in key manufacturing areas. These TALLY WEiJL-approved facilities conduct standardized, precise, and accurate analyses to uphold our commitment to quality.

Following carefully the care symbols found on a textile label we can reduce our impacts as consumers. The most relevant way in which consumers can reduce the carbon footprint of clothing and textiles in general is to change the way they care for them. Laundry alone accounts for approx. 30% of the carbon footprint of clothing.
We partner with organizations like Ginetex and clevercare.info, which advocate for sustainable textile care practices. These collaborations provide consumers with accessible tips for prolonging the life of their apparel and protecting our planet.
